Repertoire Builder - July 2026 Repertoire Builder: Theoretical Knowledge - Part 2

Repertoire Builder - July 2026 Repertoire Builder: Theoretical Knowledge - Part 2

July 2026 completes the Repertoire Construction Phase — the final stage of the six-month Opening Builder project, where four months of structural understanding and the first half of the theory now come together into a complete, ready-to-play repertoire.

From February through May, the focus was on the fundamental structures behind the 1.Nf3 complex — Réti and Catalan-type formations, King's Indian and Grünfeld structures, English Opening positions with symmetrical setups, Hedgehog formations, and Maroczy-type structures. In June, that structural foundation began to convert into concrete theory — the specific move orders, variations, and precise theoretical knowledge needed for tournament play.

In July, we complete that work. Part 2 covers the second half of the theoretical material and assembles the final repertoire. Theory remains fully concrete. This is the phase where the remaining variations are filled in and the whole system is brought together into a single, coherent weapon. The structural understanding built over four months is what makes this theoretical phase efficient — when you know where the pieces belong and what plans both sides are playing for, the theory consolidates rapidly rather than requiring rote memorization.

June covered the first half of the theoretical material. July completes the theory and assembles the final repertoire.

A central idea of this phase is that strong theoretical preparation is the consequence of strong structural understanding, not a substitute for it. Players who memorize theory without structural understanding forget it quickly. Players who first understand the structures absorb the theory naturally and retain it. The Opening Builder approach is designed around this principle from the first month to the last.

This camp is ideal for participants who have followed the Opening Builder journey from the beginning, as well as for players who want to consolidate a complete 1.Nf3 repertoire grounded in structural understanding.

Repertoire Builder will take place over two Tuesdays — 21.07.2026 and 28.07.2026 — with two sessions per day.

All sessions are part of the Modern Chess Academy, meaning Academy members receive free access to the live lectures and to the complete digital product released afterward.
