Repertoire Builder: Réti for White – Fundamental Structures after 1.Nf3 Nf6 2.c4 g6 3.Nc3

GM Grigor Grigorov continues the long-term training concept in April 2026 — Repertoire Builder: Réti for White – Fundamental Structures after 1.Nf3 Nf6 2.c4 g6 3.Nc3.

This edition marks a key step in the Opening Builder journey, as we enter positions connected to the King’s Indian Defense and the Grünfeld Defense. These structures are among the most dynamic and strategically rich in modern chess, where understanding typical pawn breaks, piece coordination, and long-term plans is far more important than memorising concrete theory.

April 2026 – Fundamental Structures after 1.Nf3 Nf6 2.c4 g6 3.Nc3
In these positions, White builds a flexible and harmonious setup while Black prepares dynamic counterplay based on …d5 or …e5. The resulting middlegames are full of tension: central clashes, kingside expansion, and deep strategic battles where timing is everything.

As in every Opening Builder module, the focus is not on memorisation but on understanding structures. You will learn how to recognise typical plans, how to react to Black’s setup, and how to guide the game into positions that suit your style.

A central idea of this month’s camp is handling dynamic tension. Unlike more static structures, here both sides have active plans and counterplay. Knowing when to push in the center, when to restrain the opponent, and when to simplify is the key to mastering these positions.

This training is ideal for players who want to face King’s Indian and Grünfeld setups with confidence, relying on understanding rather than heavy preparation.

🔥 Why Opening Builder Matters

Opening Builder is not about “winning the opening.”
It is about entering the middlegame with understanding — knowing what you are playing for and why your position makes sense.

By the end of six months, participants do not simply know lines. They possess a living repertoire, grounded in structures, adaptable to change, and resilient against theoretical trends.

This is opening preparation — the Modern Chess way.
