Open and Closed Centre - Must-Know Principles - Parts 1 and 2
How to play in positions with an open or closed centre is a fundamental strategic topic. Regardless of what opening you play, you will often face such positions. You are going to study various textbook games and examples in order to improve our understanding. Due to the size of the material we will spend two lessons on this topic.SAMPLE EXAMPLE
The Art of Maneouvring
Manoeuvring is a very important topic in chess. When we carry out a manoeuvre, we move the same piece several times, with the goal of improving its position. Before going for it, we must make sure that we are able to complete the planned manoeuvre and that we achieve a significant improvement in our position. We should evaluate if our manoeuvre can be realistically carried out and not consider way too lengthy operations! Players with various levels of experience miss manoeuvres because they are not aware of the fact that we must look for them in every possible situation!

Opposite-Coloured Bishops in the Middlegame
In this lecture, we are going to discuss opposite coloured bishops in the middlegame. The exercises and games will help you understand the arising middlegames. This knowledge will help you to make better decisions when you should evaluate an exchange operation. Make sure to study all the examples carefully.

Opposite-Coloured Bishops in the Endgame
In this lecture, Papaioannou covers the opposite coloured bishop endgames. He immediately makes clear two important things:
1) they are not always drawn
2) they are not easy (even engines often make mistakes when evaluating the fortresses)
Studying the endgames with opposite-coloured bishops is also practically important. The reason is that such endgames arise very often in practice.
SAMPLE EXAMPLE
Great Endgame Play - Part 1
In this lecture, we are going to discuss endgames in great detail. Endgames can be divided into two parts:
1) Theoretical Endgame: These endgames have occurred more than a thousand times and already we know the perfect play. Such an endgame usually has less than 5 pieces.
2) Practical/Playable Endgame: which never occurred in the history of chess with many more pieces. At 2300 sub-level, you can completely ignore theoretical endgames after knowing some basic ones and focus on practical/playable endgames. We are going to focus on practical endgames in this camp.

Great Endgame Play - Part 2
We are going to study some more fun games in this part. Make sure to carefully study the games and play out endgames with your friends over the board.
