Italian Game According to Jobava - Complete Repertoire for White
GM Baadur Jobava and GM Pier Luigi Basso
The excellent tandem GM Jobava and GM Basso continue with the 1.e4 repertoire. In the current database, they build a complete repertoire for White based on the Italian Game. Additionally, you will find covered the Philidor Defence, as well as all Black's deviations on move 2.
The suggested repertoire revolves around two important opening tabiyas:
Against the line 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Nf6, the authors suggest 4.Ng5.
This is White's most ambitious approach. For a very long time, this line was considered quite risky. Modern computers, however, prove that this type of play is entirely correct. Furthermore, Black faces many practical problems. In the analysis, the GM tandem provides many interesting novelties.
The second very important position for the course arises after 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Bc5 4.c3 Nf6 5.d4 exd4 6.e5 d5 7.Be2!?
In the introduction, GM Basso justifies this choice in the following way, "This move has been played for the first time in 1898! From then less than 500 games have reached this position. I don't want to say that this line is completely unknown, but for sure is much less studied compared for example to the main line 7.Bb5. The idea behind Be2 is that when Black will play Bg4, as he does in the 7.Bb5 line, our knight on f3 is well-defended by our bishop."
Just like the previous courses, this database follows an innovative structure:
15 Minutes Repertoire
In this section, GM Pier Luigi Basso presents the entire repertoire in 15 minutes. After watching the video and studying the PGN file, you will be able to start playing the repertoire even before consulting the theoretical chapters.
Interactive Quiz
At the end of the course, a video quiz with 10 questions will test your understanding of the material, ensuring you grasp the key concepts.
When dealing with this section, start by watching the corresponding video. In the video, you will find both the questions and the answers. Only after that, you can recheck everything by consulting the PGN file.
Live Baadur Blitz Challenge
Experience the Italian Game in action through blitz games played and commented on by GM Baadur Jobava. These games provide insights into Baadur's approach to the positions and demonstrate our lines in real-time scenarios.
The database also includes 14 theoretical chapters, 15 interactive test positions, a Memory Booster, and a Video Version (4h and 52min Running Time).
