Must-Know Defensive Techniques – Strategy Wednesday with GM Ioannis Papaioannou
GM Ioannis Papaioannou continues his acclaimed Strategy Wednesday series this April with a deep dive into one of the most crucial yet often underestimated aspects of chess—defense. The new edition, Must-Know Defensive Techniques, will focus on helping players build a solid foundation in practical defense and resourcefulness under pressure.
With his trademark structured and clear teaching style, GM Papaioannou will equip students with the mindset and techniques needed to not just survive—but fight back effectively.
As in previous months, the lectures will take place over two Wednesdays – 09.04 and 23.04, with two sessions on each day. At the end of each session, participants will receive 10 test positions to solve independently, reinforcing the key ideas covered during the lectures. The final PGN file will include all test positions along with detailed solutions.
Strategy Wednesday is part of the Modern Chess Academy, which means all academy members receive free access to the live lectures and the complete digital product to be released afterward.
