This September, the Tactical Thursday series continues with a precision-focused edition led by elite Indian grandmaster and renowned coach GM Swapnil Dhopade. This time, the focus shifts to two of the most fundamental yet challenging aspects of tactical mastery: Systematic Candidate Move Selection and Accurate Long-Range Calculations.
Many players struggle with the methodical approach required for complex tactical situations—either missing critical candidate moves or making calculation errors in lengthy variations. This camp will teach you to develop the disciplined thinking process and calculation accuracy that separates masters from club players when facing the most demanding tactical challenges.
Through carefully chosen examples, GM Dhopade will help you: – Master the systematic approach to identifying all relevant candidate moves in complex positions – Develop reliable calculation techniques for handling long, multi-branch variations – Understand how to prioritize and organize candidate moves based on tactical themes – Build the mental discipline needed to calculate accurately under time pressure and stress
This edition is perfect for players who want to eliminate tactical oversights and calculation errors, learning to handle the most sophisticated tactical scenarios that arise in master-level games with confidence and precision.
As usual, the lectures will be held over two Thursdays — 11.09.2025 and 18.09.2025, with two sessions each day. After each lecture, participants will receive 10 test positions to solve independently. At the end of the camp, all test positions and detailed solutions will be included in the final PGN file.
Tactical Thursday is part of the Modern Chess Academy, which means all Academy members receive free access to the live lectures and the complete digital product released afterward.
