This June, the Tactical Thursday series continues with a powerful new edition led by elite Indian grandmaster and renowned coach GM Swapnil Dhopade. This time, the focus shifts to two vital and often underestimated areas of tactical mastery: Calculation in Defense and Tactics in the Endgame.
Too often, tactical training focuses solely on attacking themes. But becoming a complete tactician means learning how to defend resourcefully and uncover hidden opportunities in the endgame. This camp will sharpen your defensive awareness and expand your endgame calculation skills—skills that make a crucial difference in practical play.
Through carefully chosen examples, GM Dhopade will help you:
– Stay calm and calculate precisely under pressure when defending difficult positions
– Discover counterplay and hidden resources even when under attack
– Apply tactical ideas in endgames where one mistake can be decisive
– Spot creative tactics that often go unnoticed in reduced-material scenarios
This edition is perfect for players who want to improve their resilience at the board and become more confident in converting advantages or saving lost positions.
As usual, the lectures will be held over two Thursdays — 12.06.2025 and 26.06.2025, with two sessions each day. After each lecture, participants will receive 10 test positions to solve independently. At the end of the camp, all test positions and detailed solutions will be included in the final PGN file.
Tactical Thursday is part of the Modern Chess Academy, which means all Academy members receive free access to the live lectures and the complete digital product released afterward.
