We are happy to introduce the new opening project of GM Mihail Marin - Play the Modern Defence. After a long period of analysis and research, Marin is finally able to provide you with a universal repertoire that you can use both against 1.e4 and 1.d4. Besides being a highly practical choice, the Modern Defence lies on solid positional foundations. True to the hyper modernist understanding, Black constantly tries to undermine White's centre. Since the strategic imbalance is created at the very beginning, this is a perfect opening for everyone who wants to play for a win with Black.
The current database includes 64 theoretical chapters, 15 interactive test positions, Video Version (5h 40min Running Time), and Memory Booster.

After the standard opening moves 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 e6, White has a typical choice between 3.Nf3, 3.Nc3 and 3.g3. All three lead to big opening variations in which the theory branches deeply and widely. Sometimes white players avoid this early by playing 2.Bf4 (the London system), 2.Bg5 (the Trompowsky attack) or 2.Nc3 (the Veresov Attack), trying to get a less theoretical type of game. However, all these systems have a downside in that White usually delays or altogether omits to play c2-c4, which decreases his influence on the centre.
That said, it might be possible to get the best of both worlds by playing 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 e6 3.Bf4!?, a variation that has been largely unexplored throughout chess history.

We are happy to present the newest opening course by GM Boris Avrukh - 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 Nc6 - Repertoire against 3.Bb5 & 3.Nc3.
Against both these options, Avrukh suggests the extremely practical and rare 3...e5!?. For a long period time of time, the entire concept based on ...e7-e5 was considered to be dubious. Recent practice, as well as the modern engines, show that things are far from simple. In this survey, Avrukh manages to improve Black's play in many of the critical positions.
The database includes 13 theoretical chapters, 15 interactive test positions, Video Version (4h and 30min Running Time), a Memory Booster, and Computer Practice.

In an almost 4-hour discussion with GM Grigor Grigorov, Ivanchuk shares his understanding of this highly ambitious approach against the Caro-Kann. The idea of Ivanchuk is not to provide a full repertoire that is based on engine analysis. In his fantastic overview, he presents the historical developments as well as the must-know positional and tactical ideas in the Fantasy Variation. Besides, against all the important lines, Ivanchuk provides more than one good option. Many of his ideas are practically unexplored.
While watching this video course, you will discover the endless amount of possibilities that a chess genius would consider when working on his opening. The deep insights combined with the human touch of Ivanchuk will make you fill the spirit of the Fantasy Variation.

This opening course is different from anything that we have been publishing so far. The Israeli FM Or Cohen provides a fantastically deep and extensive repertoire for White based on 1.c4 c6 2.Nf3
Practically, every chapter of this database is so extensive that can be a database or book on its own. The main focus of the course is the position arising after 2...d5 3.e3
Due to the tremendous amount of material, GM Petar Arnaudov recorded a video course where he explains the philosophy behind each suggestion. This video course, as well as the Memory Booster, will help you to focus on the most important ideas to remember. You will also find 20 interactive test positions. Like all the latest Modern Chess products, this database also comes with a Computer Practice section. This time, you will have the chance to practice 10 important positions against a strong engine.

Given the rising popularity of the Dutch Defence, finding a reliable antidote is crucial for every 1.d4 player. In this database, GM Michael Roiz suggests a very dangerous and practical system - 1.d4 f5 2.Bg5.
By pinning the e7-pawn, White immediately makes it difficult for Black to proceed with the development. Besides stopping the setups based on ...e7-e6, White is ready to answer 2...Nf6 with 3.Bxf6, thus getting a fantastic version of the Trompowsky. Regardless of whether your opponent likes Stonewall or Leningrad structures, the system with 2.Bg5 will definitely take him out of his comfort zone. Moreover, in this survey, GM Roiz shows that even objectively Black does not have equality in this system.

Nowadays, when modern computers contribute to tremendous theoretical developments, playing for a win with Black is not an easy task. In most openings, White has more than one way to force a draw. This is not the case when it comes to Benko Gambit.
