It has been less fashionable of late but still packs a punch, and Davies has both played this opening and written a book about it. From a practical point of view, it often discourages players from meeting 1.d4 with 1...Nf6, and you will frequently see 1...d5 or 1...e6 instead.

In the lectures, GM Ioannis Papaioannou will go beyond the standard textbook knowledge. This education is the fruit of many years of teaching and playing. The lecturer will point out all the little subtleties that would make a huge difference in a practical game.

In his first camp for Modern Chess, GM Nigel Davies will examine the rare but intriguing Nimzowitsch Defence against 1.e4 (1...Nc6). This defense can serve as a complete, stand-alone option against 1.e4 or as a means of transposing into 1.e4 e5 lines while limiting White's options other than 2.Nf3. Additionally, the lines explored will interest players of the French, Alekhine's, and Scandinavian Defences, which can be reached by transposition.
